Adding your Ernie AI chatbot to a Shopify website is straightforward and requires no coding experience. Follow the steps below to get your chatbot live on your site in minutes.
Before you start
Have your Ernie AI embed code ready.
All Shopify plans (Basic, Shopify, Advanced) allow editing theme code to embed JavaScript.
Shopify Plus adds a Script Editor app but is not required for Ernie AI.
We recommend embedding site-wide so the chatbot appears everywhere.
Steps
Log into Shopify Admin → Online Store → Themes.
Next to your active theme click … → Edit Code.
Open Layout → theme.liquid.
Scroll to just before
</head>and paste your embed code.Click Save.
Visit your store homepage and confirm the chatbot loads.
Homepage only (optional):
Go to Online Store → Pages → Homepage.
Add a Custom HTML block or Section (if theme supports).
Paste your code → Save → Publish.
Troubleshooting
Didn’t appear → confirm you saved and published, clear cache.
Only homepage → ensure code is inside
theme.liquid.
